Geminin\nboyu 140 metre,\neni 19 metre,\nsu kesimi bo\u015f 4,93 dolu 8,51 metreydi. 5659 net ton 9298 Groston 6947 DWT\u2019luktu.\n&nbsp;New York Shipbuilding Co Tersanesi\u2019nce\nyap\u0131lan 7200 HP steam t\u00fcrbinli ana makinesi vard\u0131. 14 mil s\u00fcrat yapabiliyordu. Servis\ns\u00fcreti ile g\u00fcnl\u00fck yat\u0131 sarfiyat\u0131 68 ton Tahmil ve Tahliyede ise 16 ton yak\u0131t\nsarfiyat\u0131 bulunmakta idi.1187 ton kapasiteli tatl\u0131 su tank\u0131, 867 ton kapasiteli\nbalast tank\u0131, 1583 ton fueloil tank\u0131 12 ton kapasiteli Motorin tank\u0131 ve 22 ton\nkapasiteli Turbin ya\u011f\u0131 tank\u0131 mevcuttu. \u0130kisi motorlu 16 s\u0131 normal olmak \u00fczere\ntoplam 18 adet can filikas\u0131 vard\u0131.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00d6nceleri yolcu ve y\u00fck\nta\u015f\u0131yan Exochorda, 27 Aral\u0131k 1940 tarihinden itibaren &#8220;Harry E.\nLee-AP17&#8221; ad\u0131yla Amerika Birle\u015fik Devletleri Kara Kuvvetleri emrine\nverildi. \u0130kinci D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 boyunca lojistik hizmetlerde kullan\u0131ld\u0131ktan sonra\n9 May\u0131s 1946&#8217;da Baltimore&#8217;da Toothshipyard Tersanesi\u2019ne ba\u011flan\u0131p servis d\u0131\u015f\u0131 b\u0131rak\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye taraf\u0131ndan\nsat\u0131n al\u0131n\u0131p \u00f6nce \u201cEdirne\u201d ad\u0131 verilmesi d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcl\u00fcrken, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin\nge\u00e7mi\u015fteki renkli politikac\u0131lar\u0131ndan Ula\u015ft\u0131rma Bakan\u0131 Kas\u0131m G\u00fclek\u2019in \u00f6nerisi ile\nS\/S Tarsus ismi verilmi\u015ftir. S\/S\nTarsus burada b\u00fcy\u00fck bir bak\u0131m onar\u0131mdan ge\u00e7irilir. Bu onar\u0131mda 19 adet l\u00fcks\nkamara da 37 adet yatak, 70 adet I. Mevki Kamarada 139 yatak, 17 adet II. Mevki\nKamarada 66 yatak, 2 adet Turistik (A) Kamarada 60 yatak, 4 adet Turistik (B)\nKamarada 150 yatak olmak \u00fczere toplamda 452 yolcu ta\u015f\u0131yacak hale getirildi.\nAyr\u0131ca uzak seferlerde 30, K\u0131sa seferlerde yaz\u0131n 135 k\u0131\u015f\u0131n 30 g\u00fcverte yolcusu\nalabilecek kapasiteye de sahipti. Gemide 143 personel g\u00f6rev yapmakta idi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gemi, \u201cAtat\u00fcrk\u2019\u00fcn Kaptan\u0131\u201d diye an\u0131lan disiplinli \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131, engin bilgisi\nile herkesin takdirini, sevgisini ve sayg\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 kazanan Kaptan Sait \u00d6zege\ntaraf\u0131ndan 16 Nisan 1948 tarihinde teslim al\u0131nm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Geminin \u0130kinci Kaptan\u0131\nFazl\u0131 \u0130slam, \u00fc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc kaptan\u0131 ise gemiye T\u00fcrk Bayra\u011f\u0131\u2019n\u0131 ilk \u00e7eken Kaptan M\u00fcmtaz\nDiker\u2019dir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\/S Tarsus, T\u00fcrk\nBayra\u011f\u0131 ile yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 ilk seferinde K\u00fcba\u2019dan ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 yolcu ve \u015fekeri Londra\u2019ya g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcr.\nBurada y\u00fck\u00fcn\u00fc bo\u015falt\u0131p yolcular\u0131n\u0131 indirdikten sonra \u0130spanya&#8217;n\u0131n Santander,\nsonra da Vigo Liman\u0131 i\u00e7in ba\u015fka y\u00fckler ve yolcular al\u0131r. Say\u0131lar\u0131 y\u00fcz\u00fcn \u00fcst\u00fcnde\nolan bu yolcular Malta, \u0130skenderiye ve Port Said&#8217;de bulunan \u0130ngiliz kara ve\ndeniz kuvvetleri subaylar\u0131n\u0131n e\u015fleridir. Gemi, bu yolcular\u0131 Malta Adas\u0131\u2019na\nb\u0131rakarak, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019ye hareket eder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;S\/S Tarsus, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019ye geldikten\nsonra \u0130stanbul-\u0130zmir-Pire-Napoli-Cenova-Nice-Marsilya-Barcelona limanlar\u0131\naras\u0131nda 21 g\u00fcn s\u00fcren seferler yapar.14 Haziran 1954 \u2013 6 A\u011fustos 1954 tarihleri\naras\u0131nda 450 yolcusu ile ilk b\u00fcy\u00fck yolculu\u011funu T\u00fcrkiye Turizm Kurumu&#8217;nun\nd\u00fczenledi\u011fi 3 k\u0131ta, 6 memleket ve 9 b\u00fcy\u00fck limana ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirir. S\/S Tarsus, 63\ng\u00fcn s\u00fcrecek yolculu\u011funda; Casablanca, Las Palmas, Havana, Miami, Charleston,\nBaltimore, Lizbon, Cote d&#8217;Azur ve New York&#8217;a u\u011fram\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. O g\u00fcnk\u00fc T\u00fcrkiye\nko\u015fullar\u0131nda bu yolculuk bir\u00e7ok ki\u015fi i\u00e7in r\u00fcya demekti. 27 senelik uzun yol\nkaptan\u0131 Necdet Or&#8217;un s\u00fcvarili\u011finde Atlantik\u2019i a\u015facak geminin e\u011flence program\u0131,\nVedat Ar, Hakk\u0131 Devrim ve Orhan Boran&#8217;dan olu\u015fan bir komite taraf\u0131ndan\nhaz\u0131rlanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Bu programda, caz sanat\u00e7\u0131s\u0131 Sevin\u00e7 Tez, Darva\u015f, Fritz Kerten ve\nAngelo orkestralar\u0131 gibi zaman\u0131n en \u00fcnl\u00fc sanat\u00e7\u0131 ve gruplar\u0131 yer al\u0131yordu.\n\u015eevket Rado, Panorama dergisindeki yaz\u0131s\u0131nda, yolcular\u0131na &#8220;R\u00fcya Avc\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131na\n\u00c7\u0131k\u0131yorsunuz&#8221; yazar. S\/S Tarsus Gemisi\u2019nin yolculu\u011fu, planland\u0131\u011f\u0131 gibi\nge\u00e7er. T\u00fcrkiye sergisi de b\u00fcy\u00fck ilgi g\u00f6r\u00fcr. T\u00fcrkiye Turizm Kurumu&#8217;nca\nd\u00fczenlenen bu yolculuk amac\u0131na ula\u015f\u0131r ve S\/S Tarsus yine planland\u0131\u011f\u0131 gibi 16\nA\u011fustos&#8217;ta \u00fclkeye d\u00f6ner. Bu tarihten sonra S\/S Tarsus bir Amerikan \u015firketine\nkiraya verilir. Bahar ve yaz aylar\u0131nda Miami kalk\u0131\u015fl\u0131 seferler yapar. Bu\nseferler, yand\u0131\u011f\u0131 14 Aral\u0131k 1960 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar devam eder. S\/S Tarsus,\nT\u00fcrkiye\u2019de oldu\u011fu d\u00f6nem i\u00e7erisinde 2 defada hac seferi yapar. S\/S Ankara gemisi\n\u015eefik Kaptan ile \u00f6zde\u015flemi\u015fse, S\/S Tarsus gemisi de Kaptan Necdet Or ile\n\u00f6zde\u015fle\u015fmi\u015ftir. Kaptan Necdet Or, Rumi 1323 (1907) tarihinde Dersaadet\u2019te (\u0130stanbul\u2019da\n) do\u011fdu. Baba Ad\u0131 Selahattin (\u015fehit d\u00fc\u015fm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr.), anne ad\u0131 Bahnane\u2019dir. Girdi\u011fi\nTicareti Bahriye Kaptan ve \u00c7ark\u00e7\u0131 Mektebi\u2019nden Te\u015frinievvel 1926 tarihinde\nmezun olmu\u015ftur. Ayn\u0131 y\u0131l T\u00fcrkiye Seyr-i Sefain \u0130daresi\u2019ne girmi\u015f ve \u00c7anakkale\ngemisi m\u00fclaz\u0131m kaptanl\u0131\u011f\u0131na atanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. 1934 senesinde 3. Kaptanl\u0131\u011fa, 1938\ny\u0131l\u0131nda 2. Kaptanl\u0131\u011fa atanm\u0131\u015f; bu g\u00f6revde iken Savarona Yat\u0131\u2019nda da ikinci\nkaptanl\u0131k yapt\u0131ktan sonra 14.08.1941 tarihinde yap\u0131lan imtihan\u0131 kazanarak 1. S\u0131n\u0131f\nBa\u015f kaptanl\u0131k diplomas\u0131n\u0131 alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. \u0130nebolu Gemisi\u2019nde \u00e7\u0131kan yang\u0131n\u0131\ns\u00f6nd\u00fcrmekteki ola\u011fan\u00fcst\u00fc ba\u015far\u0131lar\u0131 nedeniyle, 5 \u015eubat 1928 y\u0131l\u0131nda 10 TL,\n25.05.1944 ve 27.12.1945 senelerinde vazifesinde g\u00f6sterdi\u011fi ola\u011fan\u00fcst\u00fc\ngayretler nedeniyle 1\u2019er maa\u015f tutar\u0131nda ikramiye verilmi\u015ftir. Denizyollar\u0131na\nait \u00e7e\u015fitli gemilerde \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan Kaptan Necdet Or, uzun y\u0131llar s\u00fcvarili\u011fini\nyapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 S\/S Tarsus Gemisi\u2019yle Amerika Birle\u015fik Devletlerinde Miami kalk\u0131\u015fl\u0131\nseferleri ba\u015far\u0131 ile tamamlam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. 65 ya\u015f\u0131n\u0131 ikmal etti\u011finden 10.11.1971\ntarihinde emekli olmu\u015ftur. Necdet Or, emeklili\u011finden sonra birka\u00e7 y\u0131l\nya\u015fad\u0131ktan sonra vefat etmi\u015ftir. Disiplini, \u00fcst\u00fcn \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma gayreti ile herkesin\ntakdirini kazanan Kaptan Necdet Or\u2019un ismi DB Deniz Nakliyat\u0131 T.A.\u015e \u2018nin sat\u0131n\nald\u0131\u011f\u0131 Ro-Ro gemisine verilmi\u015ftir.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14\nAral\u0131k 1960 g\u00fcn\u00fc bak\u0131m i\u00e7in bulundu\u011fu \u0130stinye Tersanesi\u2019nden \u00e7\u0131kan ertesi g\u00fcn\nise Amerika\u2019ya gitmek i\u00e7in yola \u00e7\u0131kacak olan Tarsus a\u00e7\u0131kta demirlemi\u015fti. Tarsus\nGemisi bo\u011faz\u0131n sular\u0131nda nazl\u0131 nazl\u0131 sal\u0131n\u0131rken ac\u0131 sona yakla\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n fark\u0131nda\nde\u011fildi. Yugoslav band\u0131ral\u0131 Peter Zoranic ile Yunan band\u0131ral\u0131 World Harmony\nadl\u0131 tankerlerin \u0130stinye \u00f6nlerinde \u00e7arp\u0131\u015fmas\u0131 neticesinde, b\u00fcy\u00fck bir yang\u0131n\n\u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015f.&nbsp;Gemilerden biri s\u00fcr\u00fcklenerek Tarsus\u2019a bindirmi\u015fti. Yeni boyanm\u0131\u015f\noldu\u011fu i\u00e7in yolcu gemisi alev topuna d\u00f6nm\u00fc\u015f ve kullan\u0131lamaz hale gelmi\u015fti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pa\u015fabah\u00e7e a\u00e7\u0131klar\u0131nda\nYunan band\u0131ral\u0131 World Harmony ile Yugoslav band\u0131ral\u0131 Peter Zoranic adl\u0131 iki\ntankerin \u00e7arp\u0131\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131n ard\u0131ndan, yanarak s\u00fcr\u00fcklenen Zoranic, \u0130stinye\u2019de bak\u0131mda\nolan Tarsus Gemisi&#8217;ne \u00e7arpar, birlikte yanmaya ba\u015flar. Denizden ve karadan ne\nkadar m\u00fcdahale edildiyse de gemi yanmaktan kurtar\u0131lamad\u0131. Tabii o zamanlar bug\u00fcnk\u00fc\ngibi yang\u0131n s\u00f6nd\u00fcr\u00fcc\u00fcler, r\u00f6mork\u00f6rler de yoktu.&nbsp;\nKaptan Oktay S\u00f6nmez, &nbsp;\u201cAn\u0131larda\nGemiler\u201d adl\u0131 kitab\u0131nda S\/S Tarsus gemisini s\u00f6yle anlat\u0131r: \u201cBu renkli \u015fov tam\n12 y\u0131l s\u00fcrd\u00fc. 1960&#8217;da \u0130stinye Koyu&#8217;ndaki &#8220;uzlet&#8221;ine \u00e7ekildi\u011finde,\nyani bir kenarda yaln\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ya\u015famaya ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131nda ger\u00e7ekten yorgundu. Bu\nart\u0131k o \u00e7\u0131lg\u0131n, co\u015fkun gecelerinkine benzemeyen bamba\u015fka bir yorgunluktu.\nD\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fc olmayacak sonsuz bir yolculu\u011fun, denizde eriyip kaybolunacak bir seferin\nba\u015f\u0131nda duyulan o b\u00fcy\u00fck ve giderilmeyen yorgunluk, dayan\u0131lmaz bir uykuydu bu.\n14 Aral\u0131k 1960&#8217;da bu uykuyu beklenmedik bir olay bozdu. Bo\u011fazda &#8220;World\nHarinony&#8221; ve &#8220;Peter Zranic&#8221; isimli iki b\u00fcy\u00fck tankerin \u00e7arp\u0131\u015fmas\u0131\nile b\u00fcy\u00fck bir yang\u0131n \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131 ve gemilerden biri alevler i\u00e7inde s\u00fcr\u00fcklenerek gelip\n&#8220;S\/S Tarsus&#8221;un \u00fczerine yasland\u0131. Ate\u015fin ac\u0131s\u0131 ile birden uykusundan\nuyand\u0131 ama yang\u0131n neden sonra s\u00f6nd\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde bir zamanlar\u0131n g\u00f6rkemli y\u00fczer saray\u0131\nda b\u00f6ylece bu talihsiz felaketten pay\u0131n\u0131 alm\u0131\u015f ve \u00f6p\u00fclesi denizk\u0131z\u0131 yanarak\n\u00f6lm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc. 6 Kas\u0131m 1961&#8217;de hurda demir fiyat\u0131na viraneye d\u00f6nm\u00fc\u015f fakat gene de\ny\u00fczer halde \u0130talyanlara sat\u0131ld\u0131. Tan\u0131nmaz haldeydi, ismi bile okunmuyordu.\nTekrar okulun bah\u00e7esine g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcyor beni an\u0131lar. Bir \u0130stanbul ak\u015fam\u0131 iniyor\nBo\u011faz&#8217;a ve b\u00fct\u00fcn \u0131\u015f\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 yakm\u0131\u015f bir &#8220;S\/S Tarsus&#8221; d\u00fc\u015fl\u00fcyorum.
